Not Much to Say Yet
Except, that this week managed to be one of the worst I’ve had to experience in a long while, and (we hope) will already rank as one of the worst of the whole year. I started a new job, which should be fun, but I came down with a bad cold the day before I was to start, and the weather here in California (lots of rain, with some snow on the dread’d Highway 17) made commuting that much worse.
I hope that clearer weather and clearer sinuses will bring better news here. I’ll be busy, though.
Went For Broke
I bought myself some home entertainment gear, since I recently had the opportunity to cash out a bunch of unused vacation time.
This is the first time I’ve bought a television, or any kind of entertainment devices aside from computers and the iPod (before now, my parents had bought the televisions and video games). This is also the first high-definition, flat screen television I’ve owned — previously, I only had huge CRT televisions, and occasionally craptastic tiny ones for the dorm room.
Moving On
I’ve left Seagate Technology. Today was my last day.
On Tuesday I’ll be starting a new position at a small biotech company, and hopefully I’ll get the chance to write about some interesting things that I’m doing there. This was the first job I’ve ever resigned from, and it’s a very bittersweet experience — I’m moving on to something hopefully more interesting, which will have greater impact, and which won’t suffer from any large corporation bureaucracy, but I’m leaving behind a number of people who I care a great deal about, and liked working with.
