I’ve been working on a short story, and this is the first part of it. I’m posting it here because I kind of like it, and the direction it is going in. I may post further parts as they get written.
He of His Mind.
1 Awakening
And consciousness returns to him, slowly, stepping upwards upon plateaus, until finally he is complete once more, and able once again to place himself into his surroundings. This is a hospital. Or more likely, a care facility that approximated a hospital, in its basic function and staff, but its residents were not the kind of beings found in hospitals; not in public. But the white, largely featureless walls and ceiling, the chrome instruments and scaffoldings with transparent sacs and tubes dangling from them, the smell of antiseptic agents — it leaves little doubt.
